The New York State Federation track and field championships will be held at Cicero-North Syracuse High School on Friday and Saturday.

Athletes from Section 9 (Orange, Ulster, Sullivan, Dutchess counties) will be well-represented with a number of top-three medal hopefuls.

Tri-Valley junior Adam Furman is the top Division II seed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and 3,200 run and second at 1,600. Goshen senior Dametrious Esannason is the top overall seed at 200 meters and No. 3 in Division I at 100 meters. Warwick sophom*ore Luke Beattie is just 1/100th of a second behind Esannason in the 100 and top large-school seed in the pole vault. Monroe-Woodbury senior Oliver Jibb is the top Div. I seed in the steeplechase. Newburgh's Brady Danyluk is the top Fed seed at 800 meters. Cornwall sophom*ore Ilunga Salerno is the No. 2 seed in the 110 hurdles.

In the boys relays, Newburgh (1), Cornwall (2) and Minisink Valley (3) own the top three seeds in the Div. I 1,600. Newburgh also is tops in the 3,200 relay with Monroe-Woodbury third.

In Division II, Fallsburg senior Isaiah Young is seeded third at 400 meters

The state meet is a combination of schools from the New York State Public High School Athletic Association, New York City's Public Schools Athletic League, the Catholic High School Athletic Association and the Association of Independent Schools. The events are split into Division I (large schools) and Division II (small schools).

Many events will be conducted with trials (or divisional semifinal) on Friday - those semis will lead to Division finals earlier on Saturday, followed by Federation finals in the afternoon. Some larger events are combined with all competitors with the finishers sifted out for public-school divisional and Federation awards.
