Here are Section 9 seeds for the New York State championship girls track and field meet (2024)

The New York State Federation track and field championships will be held at Cicero-North Syracuse High School on Friday and Saturday.

Athletes from Section 9 (Orange, Ulster, Sullivan, Dutchess counties) will be well-represented with a number of top-three medal hopefuls.

A great matchup comes in the pole vault with Warwick senior Lily Beattie and Pine Bush senior Ella Galloway both seeded first for Division I and the Federation. Likewise in the Div. II discus with Marlboro senior teammates Juliana Juras and Victoria Maher seeded 1-2, only three inches apart.

Pine Bush senior Madison Williams is the top seed in the Division I long jump and fifth in the triple jump. Kingston junior Maia Rich is seeded third at 100 hurdles. Teammate Daniella Johnson is seeded third in the shot put.

In small-school Division II, Our Lady of Lourdes senior Alexandria North is the top seed at 400 meters and No. 3 at 200.

The state meet is a combination of schools from the New York State Public High School Athletic Association, New York City's Public Schools Athletic League, the Catholic High School Athletic Association and the Association of Independent Schools. The events are split into Division I (large schools) and Division II (small schools).

Many events will be conducted with trials (or divisional semifinal) on Friday - those semis will lead to Division finals earlier on Saturday, followed by Federation finals in the afternoon. Some larger events are combined with all competitors with the finishers sifted out for public-school divisional and Federation awards.
