Enters invoices into the Accounts payable module.Receives and reviews purchase orders for accuracy and makes changes as necessary.Responsible for maintaining knowledge of electronic accounting systems and purchasing modules within those systems.Trains all relevant employees when new system functionalities are developed and deployed.Responsible for vendor compliance with purchase order authorization for all purchasing activities.Other duties as assigned.Current pay range for this position is $19.91 - $$23.80 per hour, depending on years of experience.

Major Responsibilities

• Enters invoices into the Accounts payable module.Receives and reviews purchase orders for accuracy and makes changes as necessary.
• Reviews general ledger coding for accuracy.
• Prepares and issues accounts payable checks.
• Prepares cost allocation entries by department.
• Maintains Vendor Information in General ledger.
• Reviews credit card expenses and maintains back up for Grant Distribution and Month End Department procedures.
• Records accounts payable checks issued into the positive pay system through the banking institution.
• Participates in the Month End Accounting process.
• Reviews submitted expenses for Grant Revenue Recognition and understands the Matching Principle for monthly accounting.
• Reviews Independent contract Agreement and pays invoices accordingly.
• Reconciles General Ledger expense accounts.
• Maintains Consistent Accounts Payable upload template for department invoice distribution.
• Functions effectively in a Matrix Management environment.
• Completes any duties and special assignments as requested.

Experience, Education, And Certifications

• Minimum of two years of experience in Accounting, Finance, and/or related field required
• High School Diploma or GED equivalency required
• Associates Degree in Accounting, Finance, and/or related field preferred

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Qualifications

• General knowledge of accounting and understanding of general ledger accounts and how they relate to invoices, payables, accounts receivable.
• Knowledge of double entry accounting.
• Knowledge of journal entries and ability to perform general ledger analysis.
• Ability to prepare, analyze and interpret monthly financial data.
• Intermediate knowledge and skills in Sage or other General Ledger systems
• Advanced knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Must be able to multitask and prioritize work in a fast paced environment
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality
• Must be able to pay close attention to details
