THIS SEASON, CONSUMERS ARE LOOKING FOR A STATE OF THOUGHTFUL, EMOTIONAL & ARTISTIC EQUILIBRIUM,THE SUMMER 2015 PALETTE HAS A VERY GENTLE AND SMOOTH LOOK, THAT CAN MAKE YOUR LOOK DELICATE, YET VERY VIVID.
Celosia Orange, Paloma, Cayenne—great especially for fall types (brown, bright brown hair and eyes, or also green eyes)
Cayenne, Placid Blue, Paloma—the suitability of this combination is not so clear. Mostly it depends on its placing. It’s most important when worn near the face, so wearing this combination as a scarf or shirt/blouse, it would better suit the winter-type.
Freesia, Sand, Dazzling Blue—2 sparkling colors, one neutral—this is great for winter-type people.but making Freesia with Sand dominant, it would also suit spring/fall type people.
Radiant Orchid, Violet Tulip, Hemlock—good for summer- and winter-type people (especially Radiant Orchid). Violet and Hemlock are more suitable for summer-types.
Hemlock, Freesia, Celosia Orange—this is great for spring- as well as fall-type people.

After so many eye-catching prints as well as bold colors, these cotton candy, sweet colors come to rectify things & please the eye. Many designers give preference to lace pieces, creating a real poetic impressionism: whether it’s a lovely dress, a top or a skirt, lace details go very well with pastel colors, making them appear even more delicate and girly. Even casual dresses for a carefree stroll around the city, coming in delicate pale green, beige and blue colors with a minimum decoration, feature lovely lace, chiffon fabrics, looks ethereal & trendy. One of the most alluring ways to nail down the pastel trend is the pastel color blocking. Thus, youcan confidently mix pastel pink with pale lemon, blue with mint green, creamy orange with purple, and wear pastels the best way. It’s also fun to wear pastels with brighter shades. In this case too, payattention to the color wheel.
Another popular style is pastel skinny jeans. Palelemon, peach, cotton candy mint, and coral jeans look light and feminine, also, impeccably go along well with simple tank-tops and pastel shoes. You can wear pastel colored denim pants both in fall and summer. Paying attention to the color wheel and sticking to the main color blocking rules.

The most essential ruleof pastel shades is not to overdo with their “sweet” manner. Maybe all these head-to-toe pale lemon and sugary pink dresses with lace details, accessorized with pastel shoes, bags and headbands look chic on the catwalk, but in real life they can be too much – after all, not all of us are pastry saleswomen. Instead, try to calm things down by accessorizing your pastel clothes with pieces in black, white or other neutral tones.
You will never make a mistake by wearing pastel colors with white or black pieces or, matching them both with black and white. Combine pastel jeans with a white and black top, complementing the look with dark colored platform sandals. Nomatter how many pastel shades to match with a black piece, black is always going to dominate, creating modern and polished looks.

Do not be afraid to mix pastel colors with neutral ones. Beige & coffee shades will help you balancethe girly nature of pastels. Pastels look incredible with gray and cream tones as well.

For the ultimately playful and vibrant looks you can try wearing pastel colors with brighter tones. This way you’ll also reduce the exaggerated sweetness and femininity of pastels. For instance, think mint green pants matched with a bright green blazer topping a simple white tee and there you go! You just need some neutral accessories to make things cool!
The pastel rule states that dark skinned girls look great in lighter, more “creamy” tones, while women with a lighter skin color should go for coffee tonesand richer pastel shades. On the whole, pastels are the best colors for the blondes, no matter what kind of blonde shade they may have.
As for the brunettes and redheads, too many pastelshades tend to make them look pale, therefore it’sa good idea to create a little contrast with bright shades when wearing pastel colors. You can eitherpick complementing details in darker shades like black, or go for even more contrasting hues for theaccessories or make up.
Without any exception, all pastel colors looks amazing with each other and you are welcome to mix and match more than two pastel shades in a look. Mix pastel shades on the principle of colorblocking, using things with clean straight lines. Pastel colorblocking will not work with clothes featuring too complicated cuts, details and draperies.

Pastel colors are great to wear to work, on special occasions and on the daily basis. Just try to keep things modest, when you are going to work, a littlemore glam-glitzy for special events and simple for casual wear. Whatever you do, try to be creative and self-confident and you’ll look chic and sweet, while sporting a rainbow of taffy-colored hues!
When wearing pastels to party nights, try to focus on contrasts. Pick bright & energizing accessoriesto your pastel outfits that will instantly catch theeye. But, keep in mind that pastel colors shoulddominate, so, wearing either neon-colored shoesor a bright clutch with your pastel outfits will do the trick.
Too many pastel shades are not proper for officelooks, therefore try to incorporate white, cream orbeige tones to your looks, at the same time pickingonly cleanly cut, modern & minimalist designs for your pastel garments. Keep your hair and makeupsimple and modern.
The modern street style rules suggest mixing andmatching contrasting styles & pieces for a stylish look, so when wearing pastels to the street try tocombine the femininity they exude with something preppy or sporty chic. For instance, pastel coloredpants matched with a simple pastel shirt will look amazing in combination with loafers, a nude clutch and retro-style sunglasses.

The most winning pastel accessory is an amazing clutch in pale pink, banana, lilac or mint. And smallsquare or rectangular pastel colored clutch will add cheerfulness and a romantic attitude to springand summer attire options. Choose something withmetal details, peplum or ruffles to match with yourevening outfits.
Pastel shoes look spectacular in combination withwhite pants or a light colored dress. You can also wear pastel colored shoes with shorts and skirtsin much softer shades. Don’t forget about pastel sunglasses and pastel jewelry.
Pastel makeup is great both for pastel outfits and neutral ones. Clear lip glosses, pearl eyeshadows, blush in the shades of tea rose are ideal for makinga sophisticated, natural look. And, of course, pastel nail polishes look so trendy and delicate. For pastelclothes, choose your nail polish in the main colorof your outfit or the opposite shade to colorblockyour look. High-gloss mint nail polish go well withblack clothes, pale pink with lemon, while lilac withwhite and pink.

Spring has landed at our doorsteps, which means it’s time to retire darker, saturated hues for something a bit softer. Today’s pastel hues are incredibly modern and wearable. We spoke with L’Oreal Paris Make-Up Director, Elsa Morgan, for her tips on wearing the look with style.
Keep your complexion sheer
“You do not want to look very retro,” says Elsa, “so keep your complexion sheer and glowing. Choose either a BB or CC Cream rather than a foundation, and if you feel you need some extra coverage, just spot blend concealer really well, to make the skin doesn’t look heavy. It should look fresh and girly.
Stick with one eyeshadow shade
Forget blending different eye shadow colours. “Go for a one shade only and use that as a wash over the lid,” says Elsa. “It is such a beautiful, soft look.”
“If you want a stronger look, you could choose a graphic eyeliner in a pastel shade & wear it against a neutral eye. Apply it so it is quite bold and wing it out. Then, layer mascara so you don’t look washedout around the eyes.
Note: “Impeccably groomed and defined brows are a must,” stresses Elsa. “Pastels are a fresh, girlie look, so it’s nice to add a touch of tomboy with the brow. Keep it structured, but not too heavy.”
Keep cheeks sheer and pretty
Avoid powder. “You want a formula that is fresh and where you can still see the skin coming through. A light stain or tint on the apples of the cheeks will give a fresh flush and glow. Don’t try to contour, or apply too heavily.”
Play with lip contours
“Pastels can often have a matt finish,” warns Elsa, “so play around with different textures and add a gloss over your lipstick. You can have a lovely stain of colour then sheer gloss on the top, or simply use gloss alone.”

RR: How did you end up partnering withEnamel Diction?
RT: I came in for an appointment and told [the owner] Mariana that I was an astrologer. I told her that my education is about neuroscience and art history—so yeah, I totally work with color. I have alot of experience working in the art world—I’ve done astrology my whole life—but monetarily I was trying to be logical… by working in the art world, which doesn’t make any sense. “Is there a way to personalize color with astrology?” and I was like, “Actually yeah, there is.” From there, we started talking about how to curate this experience—that was months ago, and it’s just taken off.
RR: REMI RAMIREZ / RT: ROSE THEODORA

SEE IT, BUT THEY DO EMANATE AN AURA.

Enamel Diction, hub of the “International color culture phenomenon.” paints polish in whole newlight—as purveyor of our subliminal traits and desires (whut??!!). And their on-site astrologist,Rose Theodora—natal chart-reader, art historian, and color curator to the stars—is the clairvoyantbehind Enamel Diction’s newest, nail service called Colorstrology. We sent our resident astrology addict, Remy Ramirez, to test the cosmic waters herself.Read on for all the deets first hand (pun intended).
COLORSTROLOGY x ROSE THEODORA
RR: Perfect segue! How do astrology and color intersect?
RT: Colors have personalities; they have an aura.We can’t always see it, but they do emanate anaura. Your chart is not an extension of you—it is you. You’re dynamic; you have these elements—your personality can’t be contained or defined. So in astrology, each planet has a ruling sign, and those signs also have a personality. Mars is a great example—it’s associated with the warrior, Aries. Aries is red. So we think about matching the personality of the person with the personality of the colors emanating astrologically. We’re also seeing what people need to heal, what they’re moving through—nothing is stagnant. Some signs don’t discriminate patterns, other signs do, so you have to think about that, too. Like, Pisces doesn’t discriminate patterns—which explains Rihanna.
COLORSTROLOGY

RR: Tell us about Colorscopes!
RT: It’s a horoscope of colorthat I publish weekly. It’s about the transiting planets & what’shappening astrologically in that week, and choosing a color that everyone are able to work oncollectively. It’s about ways to work with the color, and how tomake the colors work for youusing chromotherapy and alsoastrology. So, showing how canthese colors can help you this week, based on your sun sign or your rising sign.
I DIAGNOSE A PERSONUSING ASTROLOGY & I COME UP WITH A COLOR PRESCRIPTION SO, I CAN USE IT AS A HEALING MODALITY.
RR: You mentioned earlier that you studied neuroscience and art history, howdoes that background influence how youthink on astrology?
RT: It allows me to get technical and analytical, and to think about the psychology, because it’sbio-psych, so I contemplate about it more from a psychological perspective. And then from the art history angle, I think about fashion and the historyof fashion, and how colors work together. In art history, you’re looking at images all day long. For me, I was studying all these artists and looking at what they painted, and in the back of my mind, I was always thinking: I wonder what sign they are? Astrology was always there for me because I’ve been studying it my whole life.

RR: You mentioned earlier that you studied neuroscience and art history. How does that background influence howyou think on astrology?
RT: It allows me to get technical and analytical, also, to think about the psychology, because it’sbio-psych, so it is more from a psychological view. And then from the art history angle, I think aboutfashion and the history of fashion, and how colorswork together. In art history, you look at images all day long. For me, I was studying all these artists and looking at what they painted, and in the back of my mind, I was always thinking: I wonder what sign they are? Astrology was always there for me because I’ve been studying it my whole life.
RR: Tell us about chromotherapy and how it affects people’s lives.
RT: So, it’s color therapy. Colors have auras, and when you bring the right auras into people’s lives, it helps them to change. One great example—the personality of orange is highly energetic & heated;it has a lot of movement. If a person brings orangeinto their house while they’re having depression, it’s going to be a great way to activate them and get them moving again—but only for a short time.Too much orange is way too mentally active; it’sonly good in small doses. So, I diagnose a person using astrology, and then I come up with a colorprescription. I use it as a healing modality. Here’s another example—gray is the color of indecision; it’s not black & it’s not white. Capricorns usually like black or white because they’re typically verydecisive and knows what to do.
COLORSTROLOGY
RR: I’m curious what the response been like fromyour clients.
RT: They love it—they tell me they can see it working, that I’mhelping them in understandingastrology in a different way. It’sa new method of accessing the energy because when you paint your nails, it lasts for 2 weeks. Also, it influence how people experience you, so it can helpwith that. If you’re looking for arelationship, how do you attract your partner? You can work withyour chemistry and magnify certain attributes to attract the right person.

base color. If you want to tape off for negative spaces, do that now!
3 Still using your black paint and

2 Using your black paint and striper
brush paint a thin cross hair. Don’t concentrate on the placing of the horizontal line sinceyou can paint it higheror lower than the other nails to switch it up.
4 Use your clean- up brush dip it in
acetone to clean up any paint that may be on your skin or negativespace, and then finish with a top coat!
5 Using your white paint and striper

There’s a hair trend taking up residence on the strands of some of Hollywood’s hottest ladies: Colored locks in an array of rainbow shades. The latest celebrities to ditch the more season typicalombre for bright, bold candy-colored manes areKylie Jenner, who debuted her turquoise hair at last weekend’s Coachella, & Julianne Hough, whoposted a bubblegum pink hair transformation onInstagram just last week!

MR: Candy-colored hair seems to have beena trend for quite some time now, from Nicole Richie’s ever-changing rainbow hues to Kelly Osborne’s staple lavender locks. How does this trend carry us into summer?
AF: The candy-colored tones are major for springand summer. Peaches, pinks, and lavender go wellwith the majority of skin tones which plays a big role in why these colors are so prevalent. And also, these candy-colored pastels are less shocking thanthe bright primary colors. It is also has been moresocially accepted to have fun-toned hair today.
MR: What is the inspiration behind this trend?
AF: The original inspiration I was using came from late ’50s and 60s Playboy, believe it or not. I loved the combination of bleach and tone looks like Jayne Mansfield and Marilyn Monroe. The color that was used during that time and the matte finish of the pictures made all color look powdery; that’s what I really loved about it. I started playing with creating those colors by mixing all kinds of glosses and experimenting. That lead to the rose gold tones.
MR: How do you see this trend evolving in the coming seasons?
AF: I see people playing with multiplepastels at the same time, using opal and pearl iridescent colors.
MR: What are the colors to try for summer and why?
AF: I love the pastel blues also, sea foam greens & nothing says summer like an aquatic tone that matches the Caribbean Sea.

Iron on according to package instructions, a few hearts at a time. (NOTE: Do not remove the backings of each heart as you go and try not to iron back over a heart once you’veironed it on). Remove all the backings at once after all the hearts have finally cooled.
1 Download and print the conversation
hearts. They’re mir-rored on purpose, asyou’ll need to printthem as such. Print on your iron-on transfer paper to the package’s instructions and cut out your hearts. I used about 10 to cover the front of each leg.
2 Once cut out, We find it helpful to lay
them hearts (right side up) to get an idea of where we want thecolors and texts placed. After wearing minearound for awhile, we found that the heartsplaced on the knees did not wear very well. This is because of the constant bending and stretching. If can, tryto avoid placing right on top of the knee.

of the hearts, flip them over so the colored side is face down.

Pastels everywhere but do they feel fresh or a bit sluggish to you? We have toadmit, all of that sugary softness can feeltotally boring (Easter needs revamped!) specially for your bedroom or workspace! so why don’t we turn up the heat and make pastels ZING. What we’re about to show you (brace yourself) is a very hot ‘n spicy palette for Summer on the runway so why don’t you try it at home by mixing pastels with spicy red, 80s neons, warm cooper or gold tones, and maybe a shot of black, deep violet, emerald or navy.
This is a very lively mix – a real party girl combination with sugar sweet pastels & punctuating them with clever color accentsthat are bold and risky. While pastels can feel really granny & dated (or seasonal), you can easily upgrade them up with my favorite metal of the moment – copper!

We love spicy reds – they can energize apastel palette taking them from Easter egg hunts and tea parties to grown up girl Glamorama cha-cha! Want to get alittle edgy with pastels? Grab a little black or navy and dot it around the space.
If you’re a bit bored with neon pink, opt forneon orange cause that looks quite prettywhen placed in a pastel playground.

INSTACANDY: MARIA MARIE
Hi Marioly! It’s nice to “meet” you here. can you tell me how you are using the internet to share your creativity?
MM: Yes, of course. I don’t formally blog, although I would love to someday. I am now microblogging though using Instagram and also Tumblr because I love how fast and intuitive their interfaces are and it is so easy to stay in touch with everyone, share instant moments, and also updates on the current projects I’m working on. I also have a website here.
What do you love about photography?
MM: The possibility of saying a million things with just one image. Being able to provoke different emotions in people and leave them with a feeling of peace and happiness, is one of the most gratifying things. More than just taking photographs, I also love creating the perfect moment and scenario, being playful and capturing it. More importantly I love how photography gives me a sense of peace and purpose and I hope I can transmit that in my work..

What inspired your passion for photography?
MM: My father used to be a hobby photographer and he used a film camera, it was a lovely Canon AE-1. He photographed my brother and me in our holidays, family vacations, or any other milestone event. I recall being so captivated by the sound of the shutter, I instantly wanted to get my hands on the camera. So my father very patiently started teaching me the basics of photography. I got so excited picking up our developed film, it’s alwaysan amazing feeling not knowing what would comefrom the pictures we took together.
After several years I finally received my first digital camera (2.0 megapixels back then!) and that day everything changed. I took my camera with me all the time, I loved shooting whatever captured my eye. What I loved the most about digital cameras was that I didn’t have to spend much time caught in technicalities, and instead, was able to focus on the composition and concept of my images instead.
What do you ultimately want to do with all of your creative talent?
MM: There are lots of projects I want to do, I’ve always been so fascinated by beautiful homes and spaces and would love to style interiors, and design sets for photo shoots someday. I wish to continue creating and experimenting either for my personal projects or for a client. I want to keep collaborating also with different magazines, publications as well as agencies and eventually publish a book with allmy pictures and creative processes inside.

Where do you turn when you are not feeling creative?
MM: Talking about creativity is a really complex subject for me, but I love it. Normally it is creativitythat finds me at the most unexpected moments! I’ve ended up writing my ideas on concert tickets, napkins or even in the palm of my hand. Now thatwe have cellphones it is obviously easier to take note of whatever comes to my mind. When I have specific projects and when I’m not feeling much creativity it always helps me to just listen to some good music, get away from the computer, grab a beautiful illustrated book or just simply change my perspective. Also a great source of inspiration is Pinterest and Issuu, but I risk on spending too much time on them and not creating, so I limit the time I spend.
Thank you so much Marioly for this chance to get to know more about you. I hope to see a lot more of you online and wish you heaps of success today and onward! Love, Opaque.
AFTER SEVERAL YEARS I RECEIVED MY FIRST DIGITAL CAMERA (2.0 MEGAPIXELS BACK THEN!) AND THAT DAY EVERYTHING HAS CHANGED.
