Who is FNAF Vanny?

Vanny is the main antagonist of Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach. Otherwise known as Vanessa, Ness, or Reluctant Follower, she appears as a human in a rabbit suit who aims to kill any children she comes across on her mission to help The Mimic recreate Afton.

Surprisingly, while she is technically the main antagonist of the game, Vanny actually only appears now and then through the game. You first see her dancing around in the recharge station at 1am. After that, she occasionally shows up on monitors or menacingly dancing around the place as you make your way through the Pizzaplex.

Beyond her appearances in Security Breach, we also learn through the Princess Quest minigames that Vanny is, in fact, the main protagonist in Five Nights at Freddy’s VR: Help Wanted.

During this game, Vanny tricks Silver Parasol into giving her full access to the Freddy Fazbear Virtual Experience, in which she collects hidden cassette tapes. Glitchtrap has attached himself to the tapes, and is using them as a hiding place – however, by following the instructions left behind by the previous beta tester (known as Tape Girl), Vanny manages to turn Glitchtrap into a harmless plushie.

FNAF Vanny appearnace

You can normally find Vanny wearing a white bunny costume covered in stitching, with a large, pink tartan patch on her left hip and hand. She has large, flippy ears, red or orange glowing eyes, and four crumpled whiskers. She has a wide, menacing grin with two small, buck teeth, and wears a large, blue bow around her neck,

Beneath the rabbit suit, we see that Vanny is actually a human woman with fair skin, green eyes, and long blonde hair that she generally wears tied up in a ponytail.

What is FNAF Vanny’s personality?

In Help Wanted, Vanny first appears to display some uncertainty about her task, suggesting that she wasn’t really keen on the idea of killing her victims. However, by the time we meet her in Security Breach, we learn from a newspaper article (during the Alley Ending) that she’s killed at least nine children.

Throughout Security Breach, Vanny has a sad*stic personality. She also displays childlike playfulness, which could either imply that she’s attempting to hide her sad*stic nature to lure in children, or that she genuinely enjoys the thrill of the chase. This is supported by the fact that she gleefuly laughs when saying she’s going to murder FNAF’s Gregory.

However, despite her unhinged behavior, we do learn that she’s capable of feeling fear, as seen when Gregory commands the staff bots to kill her.

As for her personality before she became the scary bunny we know today, e-mails from Special Delivery reveal that she previously had a very stereotypical feminine personality. She enjoyed baking, had a passion for puppies, and loved fashion, too – in fact, she was known to wear rainbow-colored hair extensions, and owned a glittery pink journal.

Her former co-worker, Luis, describes her as someone who could always brighten up a room, but also that she was very lonely, with him remembering a time where she once ordered chocolates for herself and pretended they were from her imaginary boyfriend.

Is FNAF Vanny actually Vanessa?

While there’s still some uncertainty over whether FNAF Vanessa and Vanny are the same person, in the Princess Quest 4 ending, we learn that Vanessa has adopted the Vanny persona as her own.

Additionally, the uncanny resemblance between Vanessa and Vanny’s human form has led many people in the community to believe they are one and the same – after all, in the FNAF games, color similarities are often intentional!

What games does FNAF Vanny appear in?

FNAF Vanny appears in the following games:

  • Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted
  • The Curse of Dreadbear (DLC)
  • Five Nights at Freddy’s AR: Special Delivery
  • Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach

Is Vanny in the FNAF movie?

While there is a key character in the FNAF movie called Vanessa, she sees some significant changes to her game counterpart, and there’s no sign of Vanny the rabbit. Perhaps we’ll get to see this psychotic bunny in a future sequel…
